Frank Hopkins has more than twenty seven years electronics experience including over twenty years in the design of systems for more than sixty schools. He specializes in the design of integrated security, CCTV and access control systems; and communications systems that integrate intercom, telephone, television and educational media retrieval systems.

This project included fire alarm and security upgrade at several campus buildings.

Each of these projects included the integration of a telephone switch into a school intercom system to allow the teacher in the classroom to make out going calls as well as using the intercom function for calling the office, councilors, and other classrooms. The systems are integrated into the media retrieval system at the media centers to call-up specific programs on the class rooms television receivers. By pressing the telephone hand set numbers, any of three VCR’s or a laser disk player can be displayed on the classroom TV’s. The hand set can also be used to fast forward, rewind, play, and pause the media. The system was designed to allow presentations of live and pre-recorded media. Live presentations are produced with the use of a video camera with microphone plugged into any television outlet within the facility or gym areas. The signals are then back-fed up to the system head-end for either recording or live distribution. Initially the systems were designed for Off-Air reception, but the layout and frequency selections were designed to facilitate ease of connection to cable and/or satellite TV systems.

Other systems included are security and access control systems and fire systems. The security systems are integrated into the access control systems to facilitate ease of operation and maintenance and minimize costs. Access control is used to limit access to the computer labs and other sensitive areas within the facilities. The access control system is used to monitor all perimeter doors selected windows and motion detection located throughout the facility.

Green Hill School, Juvenile Detention Facility (1999) - Washington

This $30 million project included the replacement of all existing housing buildings and provision of a new middle/high school, admin. building, laundry and shop buildings. Systems included custom control panels for staff stations and the Central Control Room, integrated door control, intercom and paging, CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems. Other systems included a CATV distribution system integrated with a new media center for distribution of live and prerecorded media over the TV system.

Mr. Hopkins is a member of the American Jail Association (AJA), and is on the committee of advisors for curriculum studies at ITT Technical Institute and is a regular guest speaker at ITT and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. (IBEW) 

He has been a Guest Speaker for seminars hosted by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SMI).

Mr. Hopkins has received numerous awards for public service including "Man of the Year" from the Congressional Businessmen's Advisory Council.
